The Wood Innovation Research Lab at the University of Northern British Columbia consists of a wood workshop with heavy wood processing and testing equipment, a wood conditioning chamber, three offices and a seminar room. Located in the heart of Prince George, BC, the building is designed and built to meet the international Passive House Standard. Both the building type and location posed additional challenges with respect to PH certification. The presentation will show how the solutions achieved within the framework of the heating demand and primary-energy demand limitation in the Passive House certification. Presenters will go into detail on the attention that must be paid to the window installation within the thermal envelope, using strategies to minimize heat loss between the frame and adjacent wall.
