The Wooden City to Brick and Stone Fortress: A Pre-and-Post-Fire Report on Saint John and the Great Fire of 1877

Description:

An illustrated lecture looks at the city before the fire in terms of building type — ranging from institutions to domestic, religious, and industrial and commercial structures. It presents a history of pre-fire Saint John and a description of the newly built city through visuals and a downtown walking tour. Participants will be guided through the exhibition Music of the Eye at the New Brunswick Museum. The show displays architectural drawings of the city both pre-and-post-fire.
